Today we’re taking a quick break from the regular This Week In Writing banter to highlight the importance of National Voter Registration Day. Started in 2012, this civic holiday encourages voting across the United States. Since The Writing Cooperative’s audience is global, I’m extending this celebration of democracy worldwide.

In each election cycle, millions of eligible voters skip their opportunity to participate in democracy. Mid-term elections (those held without presidential elections) have notoriously poor turnout. Engage in the civic process and make your voice heard.

Today is a great day to register to vote and learn about upcoming elections in your area. Take a few minutes to impact your community by becoming an informed voter.

See you next week when we return to our regularly scheduled writing programming.
