July 4th is Independence Day in the United States. Not to be confused with the movie fighting off aliens, we celebrate the country’s birth with hamburgers and fireworks. Though, there’s a lot of ways to celebrate as a writer, too. Introducing our July Writing Prompt: Literary Celebrations!

We’re looking for your unique takes on celebration as a writer. Potential topics include:

  • What unique ways do you celebrate a writing accomplishment?
  • How do you depict celebrations in your writing?
  • How do you make sure your readers cheer on your work?

This prompt is not about bragging. While your personal achievements are super exciting, The Writing Cooperative is about sharing tips to help fellow writers. If your personal celebration is part of a learning experience, then please weave it into the overall story. But please do not make any submission solely about you. It should always be focused on the reader.

We accept submissions every day following our regular process. Also, we are still accepting non-celebration-focused stories too. If you have high-quality advice to share, we’re ready to publish for the community to read.

? What advice do you have to share about literary celebrations?

Programming Note: We’re experimenting with monthly writing prompts. June was about growth and July is about celebrations. What would you like to see our call for submission focus on in August? Hit reply and let us know.

Also, if you haven’t written for The Writing Cooperative (or Medium) in a while, now is a great time to submit. Medium announced their current writing bonus program will continue through the month of July. In addition to regular Partner Program payouts, Medium is awarding bonuses of $50 to $500 to the top 2,000 writers on the platform.
