How a transcendent experience help transition from student to writerWho Are You?
My name is Darlene Green. I am an author living in Seattle.
What Do You Write?
I write on the topic of consciousness, transformation, and enlightenment. I have written three books that comprise the In Service to Love series. Each book extends an invitation to look at life in a new way. Foundational concepts are offered that reveal new perspectives available if we look beyond our perceptions and the restricting nature of unconscious patterns. As we make conscious choices, the door opens to the expansive awareness that is informed by our soul’s voice. Enlightenment once thought unattainable, is presented as a natural evolutionary step. When our human nature is integrated with our divine nature, we access our wholeness, wisdom and potent innovative capacity that is authentically ours. We each sense when it is our time to look for more and begin seeking our purpose.
Where Do You Write?
My office is in our home. Located on the upper level, I look out into hundred-foot tall evergreen trees. I feel like I am in a treehouse. There is something magical about the majesty of the Northwest.
When Do You Write?
I am in my office almost every day. I follow my internal direction around writing. I have a strong work ethic, so I can easily gear up to get work done. But that is not how my best work arrives. I breathe, slow down, meditate, and listen to the inner cues for what is to be done each day. When I am fully present and not rushed, the words arise as if they were lotus blossoms in a pond. The work then is deep, fluid, clear, and potent. From this space I can write a lot in a short period of time. It is such a delight. My best writing times seem to be the first part of the day, or in the evening, after dinner.
Why Do You Write?
I write because it answers a deep calling and purpose. After spending years in sales, marketing, our family business, and then the healing arts, writing has finally found me. Even after I had the first inklings of my scribing abilities in 2015, I didn’t consider myself a writer. Even after the exquisite, profound spiritual experience of December 26, 2017 where I was invited by Jesus, the archangelic realms and Masters that comprise the Council of Light to sit and write with them, I did not yet consider myself a writer. It was only after I had been led to my publisher through synchronistic events that I began to entertain myself as a writer. Up to that point I was an avid student following my heart in discovery of the sacred in life.
How Do You Overcome Writer’s Block?
In short, I back away from the computer. I take the dog for a walk, do laundry, or go do errands if I am unable to settle into stillness. I leave my office until my stillness returns. My writing comes from a deep place, beyond my thinking and planning of it. I am in a beautiful space of mental stillness, where I release what I think I know and allow concepts and sentences to flow from my fingers onto the keyboard.
Bonus: What Do You Enjoy Doing When Not Writing?
I love family events, gardening, music, walking on the beach and in the forest, golfing, cooking, and traveling. Life seems pretty simple these days and I am grateful. I am taking this time of being closer to home to re-set to a new expansive expression. I choose to emerge greater.
