Bronson, author of PARDON ME. - Author: Justin Cox - Tags: Interview, #joseph-r-bronson ## Who are you? Joseph R. Bronson, Principal & CEO, The Bronson Group, LLC. I am based in Northern California. I own two homes — one in San Jose and one in Pebble Beach. ## What do you write? I write about the game of golf and just published my third book, “PARdon Me.” I have a website, ”[Golf Chronicles](https://josephbronson.com/?ref=justincox.com),” where I write a weekly blog on various golf subjects. I decided to start writing about golf due to my extensive experience with the game and insights that I believe are unique and differentiated from golf reporting in today’s media. I avoid political topics and while I offer certain criticisms and critiques of certain golf topics, I try to ensure that all points of view are noted and respected. I am trying with my work to become a recognized golf writer and achieve publication in various magazines. My efforts have been targeted at The Golf Journal, which I would label as the “Harvard Business Review” of golf. I love the challenge and never tire of all the various aspects of golf as I believe golf is a mirror of life itself. ## Where do you write? I use traditional tools-my laptop computer for my writing especially the books. I don’t consider myself very technology savvy but I have enough to produce the material. My website uses WordPress as the medium for the blog post. I have a website administrator, Trevia Media Inc., that manages the website and keeps it current and robust. Our blog list numbers are close to 1,000 and increasing all the time. I always write from my two homes where I have a number of offices and different environments for the effort. ## When do you write? I am still very active in my business of management and financial consulting at The Bronson Group so I write whenever I can. I have a Wednesday evening deadline from my website administrator if I want to get a blog post published by Thursday morning for that week, so I try to get the time to meet that deadline. The blog post has a goal of 1,000 words only. Other articles have no limit. I recently completed an article of 2,500 words that has yet to be published as we’re talking to our advisors as to how to get this article placed in the media. ## Why do you write? I write on golf because I love the sport and believe I have a lot to say about the sport and its goals, and I believe my blog post readers agree and enthusiastically support me. All of sales proceeds of my books are donated to university golf programs and The First Tee organization. ## How do you overcome writer's block? I don’t have writer’s block. My mind races faster than I type so often, I jot down ideas or notes on the piece and then I come back to the piece and write from those notes. I do a lot of editing of my work to catch errors and improve grammar where I can. ## Bonus: What do you enjoy doing when not writing? When I’m not working or writing, I’m playing golf or practicing. I enjoy practice and am fortunate to be very close to the courses and practice facilities. I am also a big opera buff and we have been to almost every major opera house in the world. I also work out at least 3 times a week to stay in shape and live this life. Finally, I spend as much time as I can with my family, including my 7-year-old grandson, who is just about ready to join me and his father on the golf course this year. --- *My thanks to Joseph R.
