When anyone asks what my favorite social platform is (*outside of Medium, of course!*), I answer with Twitter. Sure, Twitter has received its fair share of bad press lately, but it’s still my favorite for connecting directly with people. As writers, it’s also a fantastic tool for connecting with and building an audience.

I also like Twitter because of the required brevity. Yes, you *can* go on a tweetstorm or create a thread, but at its core, Twitter is about keeping it simple. There’s something magical about fully conveying your thought in 280 characters or less.

Consider Twitter a two-way road. Don’t just post out into the void. Connect with people; engage in conversation; share other people’s work you enjoy. The more you do these things, the more your own audience grows. This helps when sharing your own work.

*How do you use Twitter to market yourself and your writing?*
