One cool thing about the internet is there is always someone out there trying to make things cooler for us all. I just stumbled onto a site that is doing just that.
Protopage (link) is a new site that, by taking advantage of existing web abilities, allows you to make a customized page where you can add RSS feeds, links, sticky notes, etc. You can easily change the colors, move stuff around and generally play with your page all by dragging and dropping things. You can even upload your own background images. It all saves instantly, you can make public and private pages, and even create your own page without signing up (temp pages only last two days).
This is clearly a cool way to easily access your bookmarks, common searches, RSS feeds, etc from any computer connected to the internet and make it all look cool while doing it. However it still feels pretty limited in the things it can do. Granted I only played with it for about 10 minutes and in that time was actually pretty impressed with it’s capabilities; but being the hard to please digerti that I am, I would like a little more options other than RSS/ATOM driven content.
While I don’t think is going to spread like wildfire across the internet I do think that technophiles the world over will enjoy it.
If you’d like to create your own Protopage, just play around with it for a bit, or if you already have a Protopage, then here is a handy dandy way to add the loveable Mindless Chatter to your page. Simply click the button:
